This one had a huge number of deliverables, and needed me to take some pretty dense medical information and turn it into something a wide audience could actually sit through and understand. After the main rollout of the Covid vaccines, Moderna wanted people to remember why vaccination and booster vaccines were still important for vulnerable groups, the elderly, children, and people with auto-immune complications. Which basically meant the target audience was everybody, and what we had to work with were lengthy medical reports.
I worked closely with a copywriter to turn all of that into over 30 short animated explainers across 6 focus areas, guiding how the information should be presented so it stayed accurate but was still easy to follow and actually engaging to watch, not just another dry medical video.
Unsurprisingly, like a lot of projects in the medical field, we had a last minute spanner thrown in the works. I'd already finished production on the first set of videos and they were due to go live, when a change in legislation in the US meant we could no longer directly advise people to get vaccinated. After some strategic changes and going back through the compliance policies with a fine tooth comb, I was able to update the scripts and visuals and still get everything delivered on time.
